Short Term Accommodation & Assistance (Respite) in NSW

Providing a break for carers and families of people with disability

Respite or Short Term Accommodation Assistance (STAA) is short term support for carers and families of people with disability, providing people with disability an opportunity to meet new people and enjoy experiences, allowing their carers and families to take a break.

At Life Without Barriers we offer short term care across NSW for children, young people and adults with disability. Our services provide an opportunity for participants to:

  • Learn new skills
  • Participate in community activities
  • Make friends and take part in indoor and outdoor games and gentle exercise
  • Connect with services and resources in your community

Our Services

Our STAA Centres offer 24/7 staffing services providing care for overnight, day, hourly, weekend, holiday or long period stays. Our friendly staff accommodate each individual’s needs and requirements, including matching personalities and ages to ensure each participant enjoys their stay. We are happy to give you a guided tour of any of our facilities when it is convenient for you. We work with you to get the most out of your NDIS funding.

Information Forums

Throughout the year Life Without Barriers hosts family information forums across all STAA centres. These forums are a great opportunity to:

  • Meet with the friendly staff and other families
  • Find out the latest NDIS developments
  • Learn how you can get more out of your NDIS Plan
  • Understand how Support Coordination can work for you
  • Have your say on services you would like offered
